Last weekend I had to travel a little. There were two flights, some time waiting around, a conference… when others see boredom, I see an opportunity to stitch!
(As an aside, the airline let me take my seam ripper on board. That was a good way to get around the no-scissors-allowed conundrum.)
The journey was the perfect chance to give a small English Paper Piecing project a try. I’ve never done it before, but the Soft Play ball from issue 9 of Love Patchwork & Quilting really appealed, and looked achievable. It’s currently on sale in my local newsagency, although the interwebs suggests that it is not all that current. Anyway…
It is really just 12 pentagons of identical size joined together. As simple as that!
I stuffed it with toy fill and put a bell inside, and have been tempted to play with it ever since. Accordingly, I had no option but to put it in the post today. It will be received by a little girl who I hope will love it.
It was so much fun to make. I can’t wait to start the next one!
The fabric is a bunch of April Showers (Bonnie and Camille for Moda) scraps that I had lying about at home.
There really was something wonderful about being able to sew on the go. Perhaps I will become an EPP addict.
